Yes. WordPower is grounded in:

Its structure supports both emerging and advanced communicators in building flexible, meaningful language.

TouchChat is the iOS AAC application or platform installed on a device (such as an iPad or dedicated speech device).

WordPower is one of the vocabulary files available inside TouchChat.

Think of it this way:

• TouchChat = the app
• WordPower = the language layout used within the app

The number in a WordPower title will indicate the number of cells per page.  For example, WordPower60 and WordPower60 Basic will have 60 cell locations per page.

Though editing the core vocabulary is generally not suggested, WordPower is intended to be customized.  We suggest editing pages such as SOCIAL, PEOPLE, PLACES, RESTAURANTS, STORES, FOOD, DRINKS, as well as, category pages within GROUPS. 

To protect the system:

• Back up the vocabulary file before making changes
• Avoid moving high-frequency core words
• Keep button locations consistent as consistency supports faster communication

Core words are high-frequency words that make up the majority of what we say every day. Examples include:

• go
• want
• stop
• help
• more
• like

Core words allow communicators to create flexible messages across settings rather than relying only on topic-specific or “fringe” vocabulary (like pizza, dinosaur, or iPad).

Because core words are used frequently, they:

• Support sentence building
• Increase independence
• Promote generative language
• Provide more opportunities for modeling

Yes. There is a setting in TouchChat that allows you to toggle “Allow Vocabulary Deletion”:
